Who the grant is for
Recipients of an Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans grant who require full-time care from another person.
Eligibility checklist
- Already receive an Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans grant.
- Be unable to look after yourself because of physical or mental disability.
- Require full-time care by another person.
- Not be cared for in an institution receiving a government subsidy for your care or housing.
Documents to prepare
- Identity document.
- Proof of the main social grant.
- Medical evidence showing the need for full-time care.
- Any additional records requested during assessment.
Application process
- Prepare the required identity and supporting documents.
- Complete the application through the recognised SASSA application process for this grant.
- Keep the receipt or proof of application.
- Provide any additional medical, court, income or identity evidence requested for the grant.
- Wait for the application decision; permanent-grant applications can take up to about three months in many cases.
Payment and collection
